We want you to keep the grass green on your side of the fence! Laying sod is only the first step in creating a luscious lawn that will turn your neighbours green with envy. Here is your basic guide to keeping your yard top notch long after we have packed up our trailer and headed out.

First: Keep it Wet!

Before we leave we will soak your freshly installed sod when it is most thirsty, but after that it's up to you to maintain the moisture that your sod will need to thrive. Using sprinklers makes it easy on you, just remember to hose down any spots that are missed by the sprinkler.

We recommend watering TWICE a day for about 20 minutes each time, ideally early morning and late afternoon! If there is significant rainfall you can adjust accordingly.

Second: Stay Off the Grass!

We know you will want to wiggle your toes in those beautiful blades, but in order for the roots to fully take hold compression of the soil needs to be mitigated for the first 2 weeks after new sod is installed. That means it's ideal for all feet, paws, claws and wheels to stay off the sod until after your first mow, or about 2 weeks after it is laid.

Third: Keep it Fed!

It's important to keep those growing roots well fed during those initial months. The best way to provide nutrients is with fertilizer. The first use should be about 1 month after installation. Use an 18-24-12 granular style fertilizer.
